This fruits is mango which is able to be gathered only between may to august in India.
This is my challenging story to eat the jewel of Indian fruits.
これはインドでは5月から8月に収穫されるマンゴー。
今回は、インド果実の宝石、マンゴーを食べる挑戦。
You know, living in India is a tough in work and in life for the Japanese. But I think that we also have been having a lot of good experience through the life in India. I'm going to write a story of such a good part of India.
Now, do you know where mango originally came from? Mango is indigenous plant of India. Indian mango has cultivated four thousand years ago. Mango was mentioned in holy scripture of buddhism as "holy tree".
インド生活は、ご存知のとおり日本人には生活面でも仕事面でも大変なもの。でもね、インド生活を通じて、よい経験もたくさん。今回はそんなお話を記録。
さて、マンゴーの原産国はご存知?マンゴーはインド発祥の果物。4000年前からインドにはマンゴーがあったと、仏教の経典にも”聖なる木”として登場。
Some Indians says they have a thousand kind of mango in our country. I don't know if it is true or not. But we can get many kind of mango in the indian's local market between may and august. Indian Mango gets ripe when the Indian monsoon begins every year. Indian monsoon comes in July, normally.
Of course, we can get it for the local price. It is around 20 JPY per one. So, I introduce some kind of Indian mango below.
インド人たちは、インドには1000種類のマンゴーがあると言うが、真実かは知らない。ただ、インドの5月から8月にはローカルマーケットに行けば様々なマンゴーを買うことが可能。インドのマンゴーは毎年モンスーンの初期に一気に熟す。インドのモンスーンは、例年は7月始まり。
もちろん、我々はマンゴーをインド価格で手に入れる。だいたい一個20円。では、いくつかのマンゴーの種類を以下にてご紹介。
This is the king of mango named Alfonso. It has deep sweet and sour taste. This is the most famous and high-priced mango in India. The fact is that India exports this mango to Japan in small amount. The export to Japan was already over in this season.
これは、マンゴーの王様、アルフォンソ。味は深い甘みと酸味あり。インドで最も人気があり、最もお高い。実は、少量だけ日本にも輸出されている。今シーズンは終了。
This is named Safeda. Safeda means "White" in Hindu. Its taste is mild sweet and less sour. But it is bigger and cheaper than Alfonso. I like it.
これは、サフェーダ。サフェーダとは、ヒンディー語で”白”の意味。味は、甘くて酸味が少ない。でも、アルフォンソよりも大きくて安い。これ好き。
This is named Chousa. The size of this mango is similar to Alfonso. The taste is deep sweet and a little bit spicy, I think... the most important fact of Chousa is that you can still eat it as long as it is nectariferous even if its color is green.
これはチョーサ。アルフォンソとおんなじくらいのサイズ。味はとても甘くて、ほんのちょっとスパイシーな感じ。最大の特徴は、蜜さえ出ていれば、緑色でも食べごろだと言うこと。
In mango season of India, you can eat mango as much as you want whenever you want to. Of course I love mango, it is so happy experience. In addition, there is a event called mango festival which is held at the end of June every year. I was looking forward to it this year.
Unfortunately, its schedule was changed by the organizer, it had already been over before I knew it.
But it is also a good experience for me. All I have to do is just to watch the information carefully so I won't miss it next year, as if I completely adapt myself to Indian culture.
Because I live here. This is India. Seize the day!!
インドのマンゴーシーズンは、マンゴー好きであれば、食べたいだけどうぞ。もちろん、マンゴー好きなので、この経験は自分にとって幸福なもの。さらに、マンゴーフェスティバルと言うイベントが6月末開催予定で、結構楽しみにしてたけど。。。
残念ながら、主催者によりリスケされ、知らないうちに既に終了。でも、これもまた良い経験。来年は逃さないように、注意深く情報収集するだけ。インド 文化にぴったり合わせるかのごとく。
なぜなら、ここはインド。これがインド。楽しんだもの勝ち!!
